Should first aid be taught in all schools?
Currently it is not part of the curriculum for children to learn any form of first aid at school and while there are a handful of schools who ask volunteers from places like St John’s Ambulance to come in to talk about life saving skills many still have no access to this type of education.
Like with anything the issue with getting first aid training into schools is the cost, however some people feel very strongly that such an important subject should be funded by the government and should be made a compulsory subject, so much so that there have started to be petitions circulating to raise this with local MPs in the hope of bringing this to a debate.
If first aid were to be taught in schools it means that every child would grow up knowing what to do in case of emergency and would have a good chance of saving someone’s life.
